Marie Muhammad: From Legacy to Liberation

Marie Muhammad is one of the great-granddaughters of the late Elijah Muhammad, the revered leader of the Black Muslim movement and founder of the modern-day Nation of Islam. Though born into a legacy rich in religious tradition and cultural influence, Marie chose a different path. Surrounded by devout Muslim relatives, she made the bold decision not to be trained in the teachings of Islam. That choice came with a cost—estrangement, misunderstanding, and deep personal pain—but it also marked the beginning of a spiritual journey that would shape her life’s purpose.

Though not raised in a Christian church, Marie’s mother introduced her to Jesus Christ, planting the seed that would ultimately take root. At the age of 17, she surrendered her life to Christ and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This marked the start of a lifelong calling: to be a repairer of the breach, a restorer of families, and a voice of healing for broken marriages and wounded hearts.

As the youngest of four children, Marie’s rejection of Allah for the truth of Christ created a painful rift with her family—for a season. Yet her unwavering faith and deepening relationship with God brought healing and clarity. Marie believes she was called for such a time as this: to help rebuild the ancient ruins, raise up the foundations of many generations, and proclaim the power of restoration through Jesus Christ.

Like many, Marie longed for a “happily ever after.” And while her previous marriage was filled with both triumphs and trials, it ultimately ended in divorce. Still, Marie testifies that God did a transformative work in her during that season—teaching her about forgiveness, hope, and the kind of love that endures even when dreams are deferred. Her memoir, Overcoming the Shipwrecks of Life on Broken Pieces, chronicles this journey with raw honesty, revealing how God can bring beauty from ashes and purpose from pain.

Despite navigating storms, shipwrecks, and seasons of brokenness, Marie clung to her faith and the promises of God. Through His grace, she emerged with a renewed passion to see individuals, marriages, and families restored. Her heart burns to see the broken made whole and to remind singles and divorcees that there is always hope when we place our ashes in God’s hands—He alone can exchange them for beauty.

Marie’s foundation in biblical studies, deliverance, spiritual warfare, and prophetic ministry was built at Crusaders Ministries in Chicago under the leadership of Apostle John and Prophetess Wanda Eckhardt. She later attended All Nations Worship Assembly, where she was further equipped under Apostle Dr. Matthew and Pastor Kamilah Stevenson. Now based in Houston, she serves under the covering of Dr. Irishea Hilliard at New Light Church.

Marie’s bold testimony and powerful message have garnered national attention. She was featured in Charisma Magazine in March 2021 and appeared on the Christian Television Network in January 2022. In her published work and public ministry, she exposes deception and confronts the broken foundations of relationships and societal systems. With boldness and compassion, she directs people to the unshakable truth found only in Jesus Christ.

With a heart full of compassion and a voice shaped by truth, Marie Muhammad is committed to helping others discover that God is no respecter of persons. What He has done for her, He can do for anyone willing to trust Him—even on broken pieces.
